Since 2004, the Alzheimer's Research Foundation (Fondation Recherche Alzheimer) has been working to improve the diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease and pave the way for more effective treatments through scientific research. Given the ever-growing number of people affected in France and the complexity of this disease, the stakes are high. Here are some figures illustrating the scope of the challenge:
Currently, 1.2 million people in France are living with Alzheimer's disease.
Including caregivers, family, and loved ones, nearly 3 million people are affected.
By 2050, the number of people with the disease could reach 2.2 million.
One in two people in France has a loved one who is affected.
Every year, 225,000 new cases are diagnosed.
Alzheimer's disease is the second most feared illness after cancer.
A Scented Candle to Support the Alzheimer's Research Foundation
The mission of the Foundation is particularly close to our hearts, not only because of the strong links between memory and olfaction, but also because several members of Sandrine Givaudan’s and Valentine Pozzo di Borgo’s families, our two founders, have been affected by Alzheimer’s disease. This personal story strengthens our desire to support the Foundation.
As in the first two editions, we are coming together around a new meaningful scented candle: a date flower-scented candle with unique packaging, created exclusively by illustrator Valentine Chain-Collon. Its patchwork-style design, symbolizing craftsmanship—much like a nod to our locally handcrafted candles—reveals, within each small square, a drawing that evokes memory and togetherness. Available for purchase from September 21, 2024, on our website and in our offices in the 17th arrondissement of Paris from September 9 to 30, this limited-edition candle will see 50% of its proceeds donated to the Alzheimer's Research Foundation.
