Architecture is not limited to what we see, it is felt.
For Tessa Sakhi a multidisciplinary architect whose work transcends the boundaries of design, the transition from constructing spaces to creating scents was an organic evolution. In this universe where structure meets the intangible, each fragrance is designed as a volume, an emotion to be inhabited.
Tessa Sakhi is not a creator who can be pigeonholed. Her architectural background fuels a holistic approach where design, objects, and perfume are in constant dialogue. For her, creating a fragrance is like building a home for the spirit, using olfactory notes as one would choose raw materials to erect a building.

INTERVIEW: HER OLFACTORY SECRETS
Votre parfum ?
Fleurs du Soleil accompanies my days like a ray of light, while Ballade d’Orient wraps my evenings in mysterious sweetness. Before creating my own perfumes, I wore Hanae de Keiko Mecheri.
Your favorite scent?
How to choose among so many wonders! Orange blossom, evoking the innocence of my youth running through Lebanese orange groves.
Fig, a fruit and scent I adore. Coconut oil, which I apply generously to my skin, face, body, and hair during summers at the beach—a ritual of softness.
Wild broom that scents Lebanese mountain paths. Fresh mint that awakens my senses every morning in my tea. Japanese incense for my meditations and yoga, creating a sacred space… And above all, the incomparable scent of a newborn—that of my newly born nephew, so pure it touches the very essence of life.
A childhood scent?
The school cafeteria, that collective smell of shared childhood. But especially the scent of my mother, who remains my primary inspiration. She has always cared for herself with ritual devotion: precious oils, creamy lotions, enchanting perfumes. From her, I learned that scents tell the story of who we are.
A culinary scent?
A melting chocolate brownie, still warm from the oven, the perfect alliance between deep cocoa and caramelized sugar.
An ideal perfume?
A perfume that captures the essence of pure joy and love. A living, changing scent trail, complex enough to reveal new secrets with every breath.
The scent of a place?
The forest in the early morning, when dew still pearls on the ferns and the earth exhales its nocturnal secrets. It is the scent of daily rebirth—green, damp, and silent.
An old library where aged paper blends with vanilla notes, weathered leather bindings, and wooden shelves—the smell of silence, knowledge, and stories.
A spa and wellness center with all-natural essential rights.
A raw material that resembles you?
Cedarwood. Resilient and enduring, capable of crossing obstacles, yet delicate. Like cedar, I aspire to this duality: the strength that protects (Yang) and the softness that welcomes (Yin). It is also a versatile material used in construction, cabinetry, and cosmetics—mirroring my own journey as a multidisciplinary architect that naturally extended into perfumery.
