For Drôle de Monsieur, the candle is much more than a scented object — it’s a sensory extension of the brand’s universe, a way to translate the hushed atmosphere of its flagship into fragrance. To reflect this vision, Quintessence Paris imagined a bespoke creation inspired by the mood of an intimate, dimly lit lounge, where cigar smoke drifts through noble woods and refined materials. A fragrance of character — bold, textured, and perfectly aligned with the label’s singular aesthetic.

With this ambiance as a starting point, Quintessence composed a layered olfactory structure: a bright opening sparked by the zesty freshness of lemon, balanced by the resinous elegance of elemi and the soft spice of clove. At the heart, subtle leather blends with powdery rose and violet, before sinking into the deep woodiness of oudh. The base unites patchouli, sandalwood, and vetiver with soft white musks, creating a dense, textured trail with a resolutely modern edge. Every step of the creation — from formulation to the minimalist cream jar with wooden lid and black print — was handled by Quintessence, who also developed an electric diffusion version, allowing this olfactory signature to subtly inhabit the brand’s physical spaces.
